I had the opportunity to go an tour a pretty barn yesterday on horseback just after a thunderstorm. It was so romantic, serene and beautiful and it inspired me to do this 6 month photoshoot with my daughter. Thunderstorms were building up quickly behind her so I only had a few minutes of that warm light peeking over our fence. I love the wicker basket and comfy blanket props too. She seemed to enjoy sitting in there as well :-)
Washington Monument Sunrise
So I had this wonderful idea that it would be super fun to wake up at 5am, beat the sunrise and take photos of the beautiful Washington Monument. I had my husband drop me off right in front of the monument and what a feeling it was to be so alone in the dark in such a big city. I was able to quietly set up my tripod and get the shot perfect before the sun rose at 636am. I thought it was so cool how the colors of the sunrise changed from cool to warm in a matter of 5 minutes. It was literally a feeling of "you better not look away because you'll miss it!" I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!
Love is in the Air
I was so excited with Riekje and Reid asked me to do their engagement photos. I knew it was going to be such a fun time shooting them and they certainly didn't disappoint. Since this was my first couples shoot I made them be my quinea pigs to try all sorts of poses. I had so much fun capturing them being so playful and so in love.
A Canoe in the Woods
Im up visiting a quiet place hidden in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania near Seven Springs and Hidden Valley ski resorts. It's a great place to stay in the winter for some skiing and snow shoeing but it's also a great place to hike, bike ride and relax in the summer. The nights are cool and the mountain air is so fresh and crisp. I was enjoying this fresh air on a walk this evening and I happened to find a random canoe with a cool name so I had to take a few shots of it!
Blur Motion
I had my first opportunity to shoot a little blur motion with my favorite cyclist! I had such a great time experimenting with the slower shutter speeds and finding the perfect angle to catch the sunset right behind him. I love this location too, water and country roads with a beautiful sunset. Couldn't get any better!
